The time has come once again, it’s the Chinese Lunar New Year! On January 28, we will ring in the year of the Rooster. All who fall under the Rooster in the Chinese Zodiac will have an especially lucky year, filled with great food, gifts, and revelry. The celebration itself will last about two weeks, up to February 2 nd, and is typically celebrated with members of the whole family. Many festivities will be going on during the day of the New Year, so in regards to entertainment you won’t want to miss, and whether or not you celebrate the holiday, America’s Playground has you covered this weekend.
15TH ANNUAL ATLANTIC CITY INDOOR AUTO RACES Friday night’s program will once again include the fan favorite, four 20 lap events for the TQ Midgets. Twenty cars will start each race, and the fastest driver from time trials will start in the seventh place in each race. At stake in these races will be eight spots in Saturday night’s prestigious 40 lap Gambler’s Classic TQ Midget feature. The races will be held on January 27th – 28th, in Boardwalk Hall, with Friday’s event starting at 7:30pm, and Saturday’s starting at 7pm. Tickets are only $15-20 each, with children’s admission at $5, and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com
CIRQUE DREAMS JUNGLE FANTASY Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy is an exotic encounter inspired by nature’s unpredictable creations brought to life by an international cast of soaring aerialists, spine-bending contortionists, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. The show will be on Saturday, the 28th at Caesar’s Casino, beginning at 9pm. Tickets vary from $35-65 each, and can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com, or at Caesar’s box office.
VIOLIN FEMMES – STARRING BELLA ELECTRIC STRINGS The famous group Bella Electric Strings, led by rock violinist and arranger Nina DiGregorio, has rocked audiences worldwide with their blistering solos, unique arrangements—not to mention their beauty and charm. The group will be performing on the 28th at the Tropicana, with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are just $30 each for this spectacular show, and can be purchased on Tropicana’s website, or at their box office.
There will also be a celebration of the New Year held by those within the Stockton University community at Dante Hall Theater on Mississippi Ave, Sunday, January 29th, from 1-3pm. The celebration will be a collection of artwork, entertainment, and traditional dancing reflecting the Chinese culture, and capturing the spirit of the New Year.
